`The following four postage stamps are the first of the Korean Wild Flowers Series planned to be issued in order to make Korean wild flowers widely known. 1. Lilium Lilium, a perennial plant that grows up to a 1∼2m height, has a purplish brown stem with white hair at its end and bears two to ten yellowish red flowers from July to August. The bulbs may be used for food or medicinal purposes. 2. Aster This is a perennial plant of about 50cm tall that grows on rather damp soil. Its light purple flowers bloom at the ends of the stem and branches from July to October. It bears nut-like covered with hair. The young shoot are edible. 3. Adonis This perennial plant, found in woods, grows to be about 30cm tall. The thick underground part of the stem has a large number of thin roots. The terminals of the stem and branches each bears one flower from April to May. The yellowish flower features a large number of petals, and is valued as a decorative plant. Its roots may be used as a medicine. 4. Scabiosa A perennial plant that grows in mountainous regions, Scabiosa grows to be 60 to 90cm tall, bearing one flower, about 5cm in diameter, at the end of each branch. The many-petaled purple flower blooms from August to September. `
