Detail
`Educational opportunities in Korea have been steadily increased as the government responded to the exploding zeal for education. Majority of teachers today continue their devotion to education of the next generation with sound educational philosophy and diginity. This is important because these youngsters are the future of Korea and will become the core force to lead Korea to achieve the level of a developed country.
Therefore, it is a highly significant task, from national perspective, to create and environment in which teachers are respected by the society. In this way, teachers will be encouraged to concentrate on education of the youngs with a sense of pride and mission. In such an attempt to promote appreciation for teachers, the Korean government named the 15th of May as the Teacher`s Day in 1982. Since then, the government has been holding large scale Teacher`s Day ceremonies and giving awards and honors to outstanding teachers. Moreover, hosting Teacher`s Day celebrations and visiting one`s teachers have been encouraged to show how much we appreciate our teachers.
The Ministry of Communications, thereby, issues this postage stamp to commemorate Teacher`s Day and to spread the movement of respecting teachers nation widely. `
