Detail
President Moon Jae-in was inaugurated on May 10, 2017, to serve in the 19th presidential term of the Republic of Korea. It was the day when a new chapter in the countrys history of democracy was opened by the people who have longed for a properly functioning, new Republic of Korea. On August 17, 2017, to celebrate the 100th day of President Moons inauguration, Korea Post will issue a commemorative stamp to reflect the yearning for a Nation of the People, a Just Republic of Korea” Through his inauguration speech, President Moon expressed strong will to abolish authoritarian practices, to create a world without privilege and foul play and a fair society where those who follow common sense will benefit, and to take the lead in starting an era of genuine unity and coexistence by resolving conflicts between regions, social classes and generations. In particular, President Moon declared to stay close to the people by moving the office from the Cheong Wa Dae to Gwanghwamun Gate and become the president for everyone dedicated to building a country worthy of being called a country. The commemorative stamp captures the face of President Moon with a warm and confident smile redolent of his wish to remain warmhearted and friendly to the people. The background of the stamp is President Moon holding the Taegeukgi, the national flag of Korea, with the people, symbolizing President Moon Administrations keynote to end authoritarian practices and achieve unity and coexistence through communication with the people. This special My Own Stamp captures President Moons images from his childhood years, earlier years during former President Roh’s administration, as a candidate for the 18th presidential election, his participation in a candlelight rally and fasting for the Sewol ferry incident, his inauguration as the 19th president of Korea, and up to the president who is sympathetic and reaching out to the people.
