`The 5th Workshop and 14th Annual Conference of the Pacific Area Travel Association will be held in Seoul during 26 March - 2 April 1965. PATA Conference organized by Pacific coast countries and islands, first met in 1952 in Hawaii, aims to promote the progress and the development of the tourism of the member countries.
It represents 31 Government Tourist Agencies and various prominent organizations such as shipping companies, travel agents, hotel firms, press, magazine publishing firms, etc, totaling 668 members.
With assistance of the Government, the Korea Tourist Bureau affiliated as an Active Government Member in 1954 at the 3rd PATA Conference of Manila. The Korea Tourist Bureau has come under the operational control of the Korea TouristService which was established in 1962, therefore, our membership is now representedby the Korea Tourist Service. It is already anticipated that the conference will be greatly animated by engaging in such important activities as exchange of ideas and views of their businesses, contracting their schedules, inspecting sightseeing places and many others.
The Republic of Korea is greatly looking forward to this conference in view of its importance which will have impact upon us in the promotion of tourism of Korea, and hoping the great success of the Conference which will motivate the better recognition and appreciation of the country`s tourism to the nation and aliens alike, the Administration announces of the commemorative stamp issue dedicated to the cause of the Conference.`
