Detail
`In compliance with the request made by the Republic of Sout Vietnam, the Government of Republic of Korea has dispatched a military assistance group to Vietnam in order to help preserve the liberty and freedom of the country. The group is consisted of transportation and engineering corps including selfdefence, medical units and a group of Korean Tae Soo Do (Karate) instructors selected among army, navy and marines, that is essentially non-fighting military force. The war situation of Vietnam remembers us the troublous times we had experienced during the Korean War broken out on June 25, 1950, provoked by the sudden attack of the communist North Korean puppet army, and thanks to the 16 allied nations participated in the War, the vicious enemy forces were smashed and repelled. Recalling the desperation and the rage of confusion we were driven during the war time, we feel a great wholehearted sympathy to the alarming situation homogeneous to Korea, and thus the Republic of Korea determined not over-look the adversity of the free people and the Government of Vietnam. We would like to believe that our mission, which marked a milestone in the history of Korea, is not only to help protect the people of Vietnam, but above all it will dedicate to the collective security in the Southeast and Far East Asia, by which we desire to share common interest with the nation concerned in the pursuit of peace and justice. The Administration hopes all the philatelists will enjoy to have this special commemorative stamp issued at this event.`
