Detail
`The Ministry of Communications will issue a 10-Won denomination regular postage stamp on October 1. This will be the seventh printed in photo-gravure and will feature a gold-gilt bronze statue of a seated Buddha. This statue made of bronze coated with gold foil stands 94cm high and is presumed to be a work of the late Baekjae Dynasty. Designated as No. 83 national cultural treasury, it is now preserved in the art gallery of the Ducksoo Palace.
The art works of the three state ages of this country is characteristic of Buddhist culture and we can find many excellent art works produced during this period.
Especially this statue is regarded as one of the great masterpieces of that age with its look delineating the pose of deep and calm meditation. This statue is treasured particularly in what it concentrates on the side pose instead of front pose as is usual with other works and that it represents a complete three-dimensional carving.`
