Detail
On October 31, 2025, leaders from 21 member countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) will gather in the Republic of Korea, the host country of the 2025 APEC Summit. Established in 1989, APEC aims to promote sustainable growth and community building within the Asia-Pacific economy. At the annual summit, members freely exchange views on visions and strategies for cooperation, and the outcomes are announced in a joint declaration. br br
Since its founding, the Republic of Korea has played a key role as an active member, contributing to trade liberalization and the expansion of economic cooperation. In 2005, South Korea successfully hosted the 13th APEC Summit in Busan. Twenty years later, in 2025, South Korea is once again hosting the APEC summit, this time in Gyeongju. This summit, under the theme Building a Sustainable Tomorrow, will address a wide range of agenda items, including strengthening connectivity through trade and investment promotion (Connect), bridging the digital divide and fostering innovation (Innovate), and achieving sustainable and inclusive growth and prosperity (Prosper). br br
In celebration of the 2025 APEC Summit and with hopes for its success, Korea Post is issuing a commemorative stamp. The stamp features the APEC 2025 Korea emblem placed between Dabotap Pagoda and Seokgatap Pagoda, two brilliant symbols of Korea’s cultural heritage. This design embodies the value of communication that transcends time and space. Standing side by side in front of the Daeungjeon Hall of Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju, Dabotap Pagoda and Seokgatap Pagoda symbolize the scene of Dabo Yeorae and Shakyamuni Buddha (Seokga Yeorae) sharing teachings. The two pagodas, which have faced each other in silent dialogue for over a thousand years, reflect the spirit of today’s APEC leaders coming together to share wisdom and foster cooperation. May the historic moments of the 2025 APEC Summit be remembered for years to come through this commemorative stamp. br br
