Detail
2026 World Island Fair Yeosu Korea br br
The 2026 World Island Fair Yeosu Korea will take place from September 5 to November 4 across Yeosu, including Dolsan Jinmo District, Expo Ocean Park, and the areas around Geumodo Island and Gaedo Island, under the slogan “Island, Connecting the Ocean and the Future.” Korea Post is issuing a commemorative postage stamp to mark this fair, the world’s first event held under the theme of islands. br br
As its name, Yeosu, meaning “clear and beautiful waters,” suggests, the city is renowned for its pristine natural surroundings and enchanting waterfront nightscape, attracting many visitors each year. Embracing 365 beautiful islands, Yeosu offers pristine coastal waters and abundant seafood, providing a variety of healthy food options. It is also home to Korea’s largest national petrochemical industrial complex. Building on its rich maritime culture and well-developed tourism infrastructure, Yeosu hosted Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, which attracted more than 8.2 million visitors. br br
The 2026 World Island Fair Yeosu Korea seeks to foster international discussion on the value and significance of islands as a shared heritage of humanity and explore approaches to sustainable development. The commemorative stamp depicts Yeosu under the warm glow of the setting sun, featuring illustrations of the city’s iconic landmarks and symbols, including a bridge, a cable car, a lighthouse, and camellia blossoms, while capturing the vibrant spirit of the Fair. Through this commemorative stamp, it is hoped that more people will come to appreciate the value of islands and share in the vision of a brighter future shaped by the enduring relationship between islands and the sea. br br
