Detail
On a quiet night, the royal palaces of Seoul, imbued with the breath of history, open their gates. The National Heritage in Korea: Royal Palaces Night Tour offers a unique cultural heritage experience where history, art, and storytelling come together against the backdrop of palaces whose beauty deepens in the darkness.
Korea Post has captured the scenes of the National Heritage in Korea: Royal Palaces Night Tour taking place in four major palaces of Seoul on this commemorative stamp. Through images of people strolling through the serene palace grounds under the soft glow of cheongsachorong (traditional Korean lanterns), we seek to convey the stories held within.
The Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour begins with a taste of Doseuk Surasang, a modern reinterpretation of royal cuisine, followed by traditional performances and a stroll through Gyeongbokgung under the starlight, offering a full appreciation of the elegance and history of our royal culture. The Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour invites visitors to walk with a professional guide through Changdeokgung, a UNESCO World Heritage site, savoring the harmony of nature and architecture within the palace’s Secret Garden. The Seokjojeon at Night, visitors enjoy coffee and confections favored by Emperor Gojong and watch an original musical about his life, evoking the moving sensation of a time-travel journey to the Korean Empire. The Banquet at Changgyeonggung Palace recreates the royal feast once hosted by Prince Hyomyeong for his father, King Sunjo, offering a meaningful occasion to reflect on filial piety.
In the palaces where the history and traditions of the Joseon royal family live on, one can truly feel the value and beauty of our cultural heritage. May the special moments of the National Heritage in Korea: Royal Palaces Night Tour be remembered for a long time through this commemorative stamp.
