Detail
Located in the southwestern tip of Jeollanam-do, Mokpo is a city known by many names, including “Capital of Islands in Korea,” “Romantic Port,” “City of Art,” “Center of Modern Culture,” and “City of Taste.” Framed by Yudalsan Mountain like a folding screen and facing the islands and sea of the Dadohae, Mokpo welcomes visitors with ever-changing landscapes that shift with the passage of time and season. For this commemorative stamp, Korea Post has captured both the daytime and nighttime charm of Mokpo. By day, one can see the sparkling sea and vibrant downtown of this port city, while at night, the lights of the cable car and Mokpo Bridge combine to create a beautiful nightscape. Climbing Yudalsan Mountain offers a panoramic view of the vast sea, the old downtown, and the cityscape of Mokpo, along with the islands of the Dadohae. After sunset, Mokpo reveals a new charm. A ride on the Mokpo Marine Cable Car, stretching 3.23 km from the North Port through Yudalsan Mountain to Gohado Island, allows visitors to enjoy the journey while watching the sunset over the Dadohae from the sky. Designed in the shape of two cranes taking flight, Mokpo Bridge is illuminated at night, serving as a symbol of the city’s night view. Through this commemorative stamp, we invite you to experience the landscapes of Mokpo, shining in different ways by day and night.
