Detail
We have featured Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok), widely regarded as a living legend of esports in Korea and around the world, on a commemorative postage stamp. Since making his debut in 2013, Lee Sang-hyeok has consistently earned the highest honors in League of Legends (LoL) through his extraordinary skill, becoming one of the greatest stars to elevate Korea`s standing as a global esports powerhouse. Faker made a sensational entrance onto the world stage by winning the LoL World Championship, the most prestigious tournament in the world, in the very first year of his professional career. He has since built an unprecedented record of six LoL World Championship titles, two MSI titles, ten LCK titles, and back-to-back gold medals at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. In 2024, Faker was chosen as the first-ever inductee into the LoL Esports Hall of Legends. Through his exceptional performance, leadership, and consistently outstanding career over many years, he has established himself as a defining figure in LoL esports. In recognition of his achievements, he became the first esports player to receive the Cheongnyong Medal, the highest class of the Republic of Korea’s Order of Sport Merit, in January 2026. The commemorative stamps present a selection of memorable moments from Faker’s career, tracing his journey from his debut in 2013 to his rise as a legend of global esports. They capture the excitement of his greatest triumphs, including the moments when he reached the top of the world and lifted championship trophies, while also highlighting the remarkable longevity that has allowed him to remain at the highest level for so many years. The collection also includes champions that represent some of the most significant milestones and performances of his career. Featured among them are Immortalized Legend Ahri, created to commemorate his historic induction as the first inductee into the LoL Esports Hall of Legends; T1 Yone, created in celebration of the 2024 World Championship victory; Prestige T1 Sylas, commemorating his selection as Finals MVP; and Galio, a champion Faker has repeatedly used on the biggest stages in LoL esports, including the 2017 World Championship. Through relentless effort and an unwavering determination to take on new challenges, Faker has continually pushed beyond his own limits. His journey has inspired and given hope to countless people across generations and borders. We hope this commemorative stamp provides an opportunity to look back on the unforgettable moments of glory that Faker has created throughout his career. May it also serve as a reminder of the remarkable path Korean esports has traveled and as an occasion to look forward to the bright and promising future that lies ahead.
