` The fourth packet of the ``Korean Orchid Series`` introduces Goodyera maximowicziana Makino, Sarcanthus scolopendrifolius Makino, Calanthe sieboldii Decne, and Bletilla striata Reichenb fill.
Goodyera maximowicziana Makino
The bottom of the stem of this 5-10cm tall evergreen perennial that inhabits the islands of Jejudo and Ulleungdo crawls sideways. Its elliptical leaves, which has no patterns, are around 3cm long and is wrinkled at the edge. Three to seven mild purple red flowers blossom from July to August.
Sarcanthus scolopendrifolius Makino
This is an evergreen perennial that grows on rocks and trees on the island of Jejudo and the southern coast of Korea. Its leaves are 7-10mm long, having the appearance of human fingers. Light pink flowers blossom one by one from the axil of the leaves from June to July, which resemble centipedes.
Calanthe sieboldii Decne
This evergreen perennial inhabiting the islands of Anmyeondo, Jejudo and Ulleungdo has oval-shaped leaves and is 20-30cm in length and around 10cm wide. Five to 15 aromatic yellow flowers bloom from April to May. It usually grows in bunches, creating a spectacular view of golden-colored flowers.
Bletilla striata Reichb. fill.
This evergreen perennial grows in Haenam, Jindo and Mt. Yudalsan of Jeollanam-do (South Jeolla) Province. Its long elliptical leaves, with vertical wrinkles, are 15-30cm in length and 1-5cm in width. Three to seven reddish purple flowers blossom in raceme from May to June.`
