Detail
` Two new postage stamps titled ``Information and Communication of the Future Special`` are issued in commemoration of the 50th Information and Communication Day.
South Korea already has one of the world`s best information infrastructures with its broadband penetration and Internet usage rate being ranked first and second, respectively, in the world. The country is now set to introduce a new ``Ubiquitous Society`` through ``Humanism in the Digital World`` and ``u-Korea`` policies initiated by the Ministry of Information and Communication.
A ``Ubiquitous Society`` is defined as a world where everyone has access to information he or she wants at anytime and anyplace with the help of IT, and enjoys the benefits of the digitalized intelligent world.
Our homes in a ubiquitous society will have appliances remote-controlled through a home network and intelligent robots that take charge of house chores. People will be able to get healthcare services and work at home or on the move. The ubiquitous environment will also be available in other sectors such as public services, logistics, transportation, medicare, disaster relief, environment and employment, enriching everyone`s life.
Expecting the ``IT-driven utopia`` and ``humanism in the digital world,`` the Korea Post issues new postage stamps that picture the ``digital world`` and ``mobile friendship.`` The designs of the stamps have won the Grand Prize and the Award of Excellence, respectively, at the 2005 International Postage Stamp Design Contest. `
