Detail
` With the adjustment of registered mail fees, the definitive for registered mail will be changed from the 1,520-won ``White Porcelain with Underglaze Iron-Painted Plum and Bamboo Design`` to the 1,720-won ``Buncheong Jar with Inlaid Dragon and Stamped Design`` effective August 1, 2005. ``Buncheong Jar with Inlaid Dragon and Stamped Design`` depicts a jar crafted in the first half of the 15th century. The neck of the jar rises gently up, creating a curved line, and rolls outward at the lip. The shoulder swells slightly and narrows gradually toward the bottom. This type of jar, produced in various heights, was introduced in the Joseon period. First fashioned in Buncheong ware, similar jars can be found in white porcelain as well. Standing 49.7 centimeters tall, it has vine patterns carved in the upper, middle and lower regions of the body. The upper portion of the body is inlaid with large clover-shaped patterns while the lower section is carved with figures of dragons and clouds. The characteristics of early Buncheong ware can be seen in these lively and vivid patterns. The jar is preserved in the National Museum of Korea. National Treasure No. 259.`
