Detail
` The Korean Postage Stamp Exhibition will be held at the COEX Pacific Hall (3rd Exhibition Hall) for six days, between July 22~27, 2004.
This year is meaningful in that it marks the 120th anniversary of the issuance of Korea`s first postage stamp, Munwi-upyo, coinciding with the introduction of the modern postal system in 1884. Offering visitors a journey into the past, the exhibition will display some 500 frames of philatelic works including South Korean stamps issued thus far, as well as North Korean stamps. In celebration of the 120th birthday of Korean stamps, popular philatelic works from Asia will also be on display. Additionally, the exhibition will offer lectures on philatelic culture, events for making cyber stamps, and various programs that will enable spectators to experience the world of philately. The winning entries of the Postage Stamp Mosaic Competition will be exhibited, and what is more, visitors will be able to create My Own Stamp which enables the visitor to make a stamp featuring his/her own face or buy them at the exhibition hall. And at the Currency History Hall, visitors can observe the process of making stamps and currency. As for children`s programs, daily puppet shows, balloon art demonstrations, magic shows and other events will be held.
In the field of watercolor stamp illustrations, the philately week special stamp depicts adorable animals gathering to celebrate 120 years of modern postal service in Korea.`
