`The 2000 National Postage Stamp Exhibition will be held from August 2 through 7, 2000, at the First Exhibition Room of the Pacific Hall on the first floor of the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) at Samsung-dong, Kangnam-gu, Seoul. The National Pastage Stamp Exhibition will display 500plus philatelic works selected from among the winning entries and also all stamps issued in Korea from the nation`s first postage stamp, called the Moon-Wi Stamp, through to the latest issuance. In addition, visitors will be offered a glimpse into the process of turning an original drawing into a postage stamp. As in last year`s exhibition, some 400 North Korean postage stamps will be on display, affording visitors a valuable opportunity to survey its flora and fauna as well as its cultural heritage. Of special note, the Hall of Korean Postal History will be open to the public to mark the inauguration of the Office of Postal Service on July 1. Here, visitors can survey the 116 years of korean postal history through a variety of photographs and real-life exhibits and also travel through the cyber-postal museum. During the exhibition period, there will also be a variety of events, including classing on stamp-collecting, an autograph session with postage stamp designers, Internet-learning classes for mothers and children, and a display of currency from Korea and counries around the world. The Ministry of Informaiton and Communication is issuing a commemorative stamp during the Philately Week this year. The stamp features ``The Puljongdae Cliff of Mt. Kumgang (Diamond)`` by Chong Son (1676-1759). Suh Kyung-dok, a famed scholar during the late Koryo period, is said to have been so impressed by the magnificent view of the sunrise from the Puljongdae Cliff during his trip to Mt. Kumgang that he later moved the viceroy of Kosung to tears with his description of the sight. (Design : ``The Puljongdae Cliff of Mt. Kumgang`` - housed in the Kansong Art Museum)`
