`Philately Week 1999 shall be commemorated between the 13th and the 18th of August, The centerpiece of all philately events that week, the 1999 Korea Philately Exhibition will be held in Samsung-dong, Kangnam-ku in Seoul at Pacific Hall 4 on the first floor of COEX. Around 500 exhibition frames including the gran prize winning collection will be on display. There will also be a full rang of historical Korea stamps ranging from the first Munwi stamps to the latest issues, and visitors will be able to see the original large works that the designers create before they are made into stamps. Another part of the exhibit will how the entire stamps production process. Most notably, almost 400 North Korea stamps will be exhibited for the first time in Korea, offering a great pportunity to look at the plant and animal life ndigenous to North Korea and helping all visitor to better understand Korea`s traditional cluture. Philately Week 1999 will also feature daily philately lectures and autograph sessions by the stamp designers. What is more, visitors will be able to access the Internet at the exhibition to obtain philatelic and other information. The special commemorative stamp issued for Philately Week 1999 will feature the paintingKumgang Mountainby Chong Son (1676-1759), also popularly known as Kyomjae. He established theTrue-view Landscape (Chingyongsansu)painting style, realistically depicting Korea`s unique mountainous terrain and setting himself apart from the traditional painters who depicted conceptualized landscapes. This stamp will show all the world the beautiful ambience of Kumgang Mountain. `
