Bae Gum-taek`s `Youngsim-i` This cartoon follows the life of Youngsim-i, a 13-year-old girl with a round face, big, dreamy eyes, and a long ponytail, which revolves around Kyungtae, a shy and awkward boy whose pure heart is smitten with this impressionable adolescent girl, with her family and friends as supporting foils. This candid and funny rendition of the daily twists and turns of seemingly ordinary events touched such a responsive chord in its broad readership when it was serialized in I.Q. Jump, a comic magazine for children, from 1989 to 1993, that it was subsequently made into a hugely popular TV animation series. `
