`The 2002 Korean-Japan World Cup has drawn worldwide attention, especially as it will be the first ever co-hosted in FIFA history. The co-hosting of the 2002 World Cup finals will go a long way toward promoting mutual understanding through sports competition as well as cementing friendship and goodwill through other mear exchanges. They will mark the begining new millenium in every way. Despite the voicing of some concerns due to the recent economic turmoil, we believe that Korea will successfully be able to host the soccer`s greatest event, with the full backing of the Korean people. The Koreans have always had tremendous aspirations and have lent avid support to the 2002 World Cup finals for a third consecutive time. Last year, it earned a berth in 1998 Soccer World Cup finals to be held in France. Our soccer players will do their best to advance into the second round and hopefully further in the France World Cup. They are carrying nothing less than the collective hopes of the Korean people. For the successful co-hosting of the 2002 World Cup, new stamps will be issued featuring soccer players in action, performing such moves as the instep kick, dive heading, and the overhead kick. One stamp will show players trying to gain possession of the ball. The instep kick is a technique used to fire a powerful, long shot, which can be used to pass to a perso way, shoot on goal, or to make a long accurate boom out of defense to a teammate well down the field. To do the instep kick a player must make ball contact with the shoelaced part of the shoe. The dive heading in done when the ball is comming at the player at an awkward angle or to block the ball in defence. Dive heading requires that the player crouch forward, putting his head at the same height as the coming ball, kick the heels, and make a powerful headlong dive such that the body becomes almost horizontal for an instant mid air above the ground. The overhead kick is performed by lifting the ball over one`s head and kicking the ball towards the back, highlighting the dynamic movement of the swinging of the body and feet.`
