`The 26th Olympics wil be held from July 20 to August 5, 1996, in Atlanta, the state capital of Georgia in the U.S Gergia is a southern state of the U.S. and is bounded on thd east by the Atlantic Ocean.
Originating from the Olympic Games held at Olympia, site of one of the ancient Greek funeral ceremonies, the Olympic Games were reveved in 1896 throught the efforts of Baron Pierre de Coubertin of Frnace. The `96 Games bears the special distinction of being the Centennial Olympis.
The Olympic Games are a truly globa festival for world peace and friendly competition in amasteur sports where the youth of all countries of the world, including their different cultures and customs, are brought together to forge friendship and do theis best to represent their countries in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The true meaning of Olympic Games lies in the realization of the Olympic creed, ``The most important aspect of the Olypic Games is not winning but taking part``, and the Olympic ideal ``The essential part of life is not conquering but fight well.``
In the upcoming Atlanta Olympics, athletes from the total 197 member countries of the International Olympic Committee(IOC) will compete in 26 official sports for the 271 gold medals at skate and for the honor of their respective countries, as well as their own, under the Olympic motto of `Citius, Altius, Fortius`, which means `Swifter, Higher, Stronger.``
Korea, which debuted in the 14th London Olympics in 1948, will send a more than 400-strong delegation to this year`s games to compete in 25 events.
In hopes that the world`s biggest sporting festival will contribute greatly to the promotion of world peace and harmony, the Ministry of Information and Communication is issuing two commemorative stamps in commemoration of the 26th Olympics Games, which mark the centennial of the modern Olympics.`
