Detail
`The year of Rooster, 1993 has been a remarkable year in which we saw a new government pursuing reform admist stability, the successful hosting of the Taejon International Exposition, Korea, 1993 which unfolded the future vision for mankind and provided a new opportunity for the prosperity of mankind through the harmony of tradition and science & technology, and other activities.
The time has come to reflect upon the year past and to plan for the next year. It is also a time to send New Year`s cards to family, teachers and close acquaintances to extend the feeling of gratitude and good will.
The Ministry of Communications issues two kinds of New Year`s Greetings postage stamps for the coming year of Dog. One stamp features a typical Korean dog, ``Sapsaree`` which was designated as the Natural National Monument No. 368 in 1992. Since old days, the dog with long hair and humorous looks earned the reputation as a dog which drives away ghosts and bad spirits through its faithfulness to its master and its valor. The other stamp features ``The Puppy with New Year`s Greeting Bow.```
