`The Ministry of Communications is issuing definitive postage stamp 900 won to increase the efficiency of postal service. A photograph of ``Kumdong-Kyemi-Myung-Samjonbul (Gilt-bronze Buddha Triad with Inscription of Keymi dated 563 A.D.(National Treasure No.72),`` is featured on the new postage stamp, according to the Ministry`s policy that nation`s historical persons and cultural assets must be featured on postage stamps denominated more than 710 won, the rate for registered first-class standard mail.
This gold plated Gilt-bronze Buddha Triad is 17.5㎝ high with halo of 12.5㎝ The principle image of Buddha stands in the middle of the halo and to his left and right each is found a small Boddhisattva. Following the structural style of the Northern and Southern Dynasties of China, it is believed to have been made in the 10th year of King Widok(563 A.D.) of the Paekche Kingdom.
The Ministry of Communications presents this postage stamp to bring attention to highly creative minds and cultural excellence of Korean anstors, which is the source of energy to develop advanced science and technology in the 21st century.`
