`May 23,1592, 400 Years ago, when Japanese attacked the Cho-Sun with a blitz for the elimination of power struggle within Japan and for the safety of their political power and in a sense, which could be connected with the pillage of Dae-Han Empire of later day, makes us rethink the relationship of both nations, Korea and Japan of today. The 200 years` peaceful period since the foundation of Cho-Sun Dynasty made us achieve many cultural achievements like the invention of the Han-Geul(Korean Alphabet), the development of manufacturing skills for to ceramic ware, in addition to the good relationship with Myung Dynasty fo China and Japan, So, it was natural for our county that it was impossible even to think to invade other countries and to be invaded by other countries, with the rejection to accept the theory of building up 100 thousand mliltary forces by lee Yul-kok, a distinguished Korean scholor and politician, But, our ancestors who have admired for the sword and the pen was very diligent in the enlargement of castle and the reparation of warship with the appointment of Admiral Kwon Yul for the Army Commander and Admiral Yi Sun-sin for the Navy Commader. And, when we recollect all the period of 7 years of the Im-Jin war, we can find that the fighting was a close one except the first two month`s retreat. Moreover, the fact that the political power of Japanese was collapsed and changed into the other one because of the aftermath of 7 year`s war and the instruction that we could minimize the damage of our country if we were hinted at and preapared for the invasion of Japan more earlier than we were make us review the point about the Im-Jin War. The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp, hoping that our history of suffering like the above mentioned should be the instruction for our preparation in the world current called economic war and our nation`s potential energy which has been strengthened more in difficult time than in peace should be changed into the national unity.`
