Detail
`The International Iron and Steel Institute is the world`s biggest organization in the field of iron and steel, created in 1967 by 11 civilian companies of the U.S.A., Europe and Japan in order to promote cooperation between the members in such areas as information and research.
Our hosting the 22nd IISI annual conference indicates the international status of our iron and steel industry that has risen above 21,000,000 tons in yearly productive capacity, making Korea the 8th biggest iron and steel producing country in the world.
The Seoul conference is also of special significance in that it will enable not only our country but all other developing countries to speak for their interests, providing them with new chances to function internationally and make progress.
The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of the 22nd IISI annual conference, taking pride in our iron and steel industry that has grown in a short period of time to such an extent as to host the IISI annual conference.`
