Detail
`The Ministry of Communications has been issuing in series postage stamps featuring nursery rhymes and other songs that express our national sentiments.
The following two are the fourth in the series.
Kagopa ``Sick for Home`` (4/4, E flat major)
Words by Lee Eun-sang and music by Kim Dong-jin, this song is very familiar to the Korean ear.
The music took almost the whole life-time of its composer, who wrote the first half of the song in his twenties and completed the second half in his sixties.
The words of the song express, in the style of shijo, the traditional Korean versified poems, the modern man`s fundamental longing for his hometown.
Songuja ``Pioneer`` (6/8, C major)
This song, words by Yoon Hae-young and Music by Cho Doo-nam, was in fact dedicated to the innumerable fighters who had given their lives for our national independence during the Japanese rule of Korea, and will remain forever in our hearts, keeping our national soul awake.`
