Detail
`In every respect telecommunications technology has made more advancement during the past decade than it did during the entire period of the previous seven decades of the twentieth century. Today, as a result, the idea is universally accepted of telecommunications not merely as an instrument of civilization but rather as social capital essential for building information society.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that demand will keep on increasing for a bigger variety of service more advanced in quality. A response to this challenge is being made throughout the world by laying cables under the sea as well as increasing and sophisticating the land installations.
The Cheju-Kohung optical submarine cable system has been laid in order to keep up with the advancing world, providing improved service between the island and the land and also preparing the Korea terminal of the trans-pacific cable. Our success in laying the high-tech optical submarine cable system will surely bring about the world`s recognition of our telecommunications technology.
The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of the successful completion of the Cheju-Kohung optical submarine cable system, in expectation of its serving as another stimulus for further advancement in our communications technology.`
