Detail
`Out of concerns that violence is growing in our society, the Ministry of Communications has been issuing a special series of stamps with songs believed to have a great deal of influence on developing mild dispositions and sound characteristics of people as the theme of the stamp designs. The following two stamps are the seventh sequence of the music series and feature two popular children`s songs of Korea.
1.``Kotbahtehsuh`` Lyrics by Uh, Hyo-Sun and Music by Kwon, Kil -Sang.
This song, whose title means ``at a flower garden,`` was introduced in the middle of bleak and chaotic atmosphere of the society right after the reclamation of Seoul by the allies on September 28, 1950 during the Korean War. At that time the song, with its beautiful tunes and cheerful words, had consoled innocent souls scarred by the war and is still enjoyed many children today.
2.``Kwasoowonkil`` Lyrics by Park, Hwa-Mok and Music by Kim, Kong-Sun.
The title of the song , which means ``a pass to an orchard,`` was inspired by the thoughts of the writer`s hometown in the North where he can no longer visit due to the split of Korea. It makes all of us miss our homes whenever we sing or hear this song.`
