`The 24th Olympic Games are held in Seoul. September 17, through October 2, 1988. The Seoul Olympics, with harmony and prograss as its ideal, promises to be a grand world festival where a great variety of cultures will meet together in harmony in the cultural atmosphere of a five thousand year old country, and where the finest youths from all parts of the world will compete with one another in strength and skill in an environment of humane warmth of the host nation. In commemoration of the Seoul Olympic Games, the Ministry of Communications began in 1985, and will continue until 1988, to issue 32 kinds of Olympic postage stamps festuring the emblem, the mascot, the 23 athletic events and stadiums. Twenty kinds under this schedule have already been issued for the last two and a half. Eight kinds issued in 1985 featured the emblem, the mascot, track and field, boat racing, basketball, boxing, canoeing and cycling. In 1986 eight kinds of stamps features equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, weightlifting, handball, judo, and hockey. In May 1987 four kinds of stamps were issued featuring wrestling, swimming, mordern pentathlon, tennis, and they are now followed by another four kinds featuring table tennis, shooting, archery, and volleyball.`
