Detail
`The 12th Philatelic Week falls on the six days from November 18 to 23, 1985. In preparation for the Week, the Ministry of Communications has been engaged for the past month in various activities designed for the promotion of stamp collecting as a wholesome hobby, including the holding of regional philatelic contests and the running of philatelic slide-picture shows. During Week a national philatelic exhibition is held at the Postal Museum, putting on display only the pieces of work that have won a prize in the regional contests. This postage stamp is issued on the first day of the exhibition. Since this exhibition is held a year after the Korea World Philatelic Exhibition, PHILAKOREA`84, held in commemoration of the centennial of Korean postal administration, it is expected that the exhibitions will show a highter level of quality than in any other exhibition ever put on in our country. Moreover, this is the first deomestic exhibition that has been screened according to the FIP regulations. The winners will receive a medal. The MInistry of Communications is also to planning to stage two large-scale internaional philatelic exhibitions to promote the continuous development of our sports as well as of our postal administration and philatelic culture. One is the ``Inter-Asian Exhibition of Sports Philately`` to be held in 1986 during the Asian Games under the patronage of FIAP, and the other is the ``World Exhibition of Olympic Philately`` to be held in 1988 during the Seoul Olympic Games under the patronage of FIPO.`
