Detail
`The year 1985 is receding, giving way to a new year, the year of tiger.
About this time of year, it is our customs to look back on the past year, learning from our experience, make plans for the new year, and think about our relatives, friends and teachers, showing our concern for them by sending them new year`s greetings, if not by visiting them in person.
The Ministry of Communications issues this New Year`s Greetings postage stamp in order to add to the happiness with which people send and receive greetings in this happy season.
The postage stamp depicts the third image, with the face of a tiger and the body of a human, of the twelve terrestrial branches of the Oriental zodiac carved on the stone wall around Gen. Kim Yu-Shin of the Shilla Kingdom and the crane, a bird which is a traditional symbol of long life and peace.`
