Detail
`The Ministry of Communications has been issuing special postage stamps featuring our traditional folkways to help people, both at home and abroad, trace the origins of our present life styles and understand our tradition correctly, and also to preserve our traditional customs that are fading away. The five connected stamps being issued now depict the instrumental music of peasants, and are the third of the series. The Korean farm music consists of music and movements, the former performed with such percussion instruments as gongs, drums and tabor and such wind instruments as flute and horn, and the latter by dances and marches. Farming, miliraty life, festivals, exorcisms may have contributed to its creation, but it is believed that farming is most directly relates to its origin. It is easy in the farming season to find peasants joyfully working in the delightful rhythm of farm music. The contemporary Korean dancing often ends up in the music, too.`
