`The 10th Asian Games are held in Seoul over a period of 16 days, September 20 through October 5, 1986.
The Games originated with Indian, who proposed in 1948 the creation of the Asian Games as a sports festival of Asia, bringing about the establishment of the Asian Games Federatian(AGF) on February 13, 1949.
Ever since they were first held in New Delhi in 1951, the Asian games have been hosted by such cities as Manila, Tokyo, Jakarta, Banfkok, Teheran. The 10th Games, held in Seoul, are expected to be participated in by the greatest number of athletes and officials in the history of the Games from as many as 36 member countries of the Olympic Council of Asia.
The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamps as a sign of our nation`s desire that the Seoul Asian Games, held to promote the permanent progress, unity and friendship of the Asians, be successful.`
