`In an attempt to help the users choose from a wider variety of stamps, the Ministry of Communications issues the following 5 kinds of 550-won definitive postage stamps, all having a plant as the subject for design, to be used along with the 80-won stamps in currency. 1. Dicentra spectabilis (Bleeding Heart) Growing in mountain valleys, and often planted in the yards of temples and rural houses, this cream-colored pernnial plant stands erect to a height of 60cm and has tender, divided stems, its lavender racemous flowers, which bloom May to June, hanging in clusters on the ends of stems. Bleeding Heart leaves two petals and bears long, oval capsulated fruit. 2. Hanabusaya asiatica (Diamond Bluebell) This perennial plant, which is confined to Korea, is found in the high mountains of the central and northern regions. The hairless plant grows to a height of about 70cm and stands erect, with 4 or 5 leaves hanging close together on the middle of the stem. Its light purple, bell-shaped flowers sprout from the end of the stem or from the branching shoots, blooming in panicle August to September. 3. Erythronium japonicum THis perennial plant, growing on fertile soil in the mountains, has a white stem about 6cm long and 1cm across. Its root goes 20 to 30cm down into the ground. It bears just one flower which faces downward and blooms April to May. It bears capsulated fruit which is oval or round. 4. Dianthus chinesis(Pink) This perennial plant with a whitish green tint, growing anywhere in the fields of our country, stands erect to a height of 30cm, with its branching stems rising close together and bearing at their ends one or more nowers, which bloom June to August. 5. Chrysnathemum zawadskii ssp. coreanum This perennial plant, growing in the parts of Mt. Halla which are 1500m or more above sea level, is a kind of wild chrysanthemum with its crisscrossing leaves slimly dividing like a feather. Its flowers, 5 to 6cm wide and usually white, bloom September to October. `
