Detail
`The Ministry of Communications has been issuing a series of music postage stamps featuring the more popular of our folksongs, nursery songs and classical - style songs, and will continue the task for a few more years to help the diffusion of our music. The following two stamps depicting two of our classical-style songs are the third of the series :
1. Barley field (in four-four time, B flat major)
Written by Park Wha-mok and composed by Yun Yong-ha, this song expresses the landscape of a rural village and the leisurely country rhythm of life, and is one of our most popular songs.
The stamp has a close-up of barley against the lyrical background of barley-field waves, with the golden yellow of barley providing its overall image in a simple way.
2. Magnolia (in four-four time F major)
Written by Cho Young-shik and composed by Kim Dong-jin, Magnolia has long been a most favorite song to us reminding us of the grace and purity of the magnolia.
The stamp has a close-up of magnolias designed to express our love of the flower and also to focalize its whiteness and purity.`
