Detail
`His Highness Sheikh Khalifa AI-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, makes an official visit to the Republic of Korea for three days, April 20-22, 1984 at the invitation of President Chun Doo Hwan. Qatar is an oil-rich country on a 11,437㎢ peninsula in the east of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering on Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates to the south. Its 300,000 population consists mainly of people of Arabian, Iranian and Pakistani origin, who speak Arabic as the common lauguage. Since 1974, when formal diplomatic relations were established between Qatar and our country, our construction companies have entered the country, helping in various construction projects there and thus serving to improve the relations between the two countries. Among Korea`s exports to Qatar are construction equipment and materials, textiles and steel. During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa AI-Thani and President Chun will have summit talks and exchange views on matters of mutual interest. The Ministry of Communications issues his commemorative postage stamp as a sign of the hearty welcome our nation is extending to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa AI-Thani.`
