`President and MrsMohammad Zia-Ul-Haq of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan make a state visit to Korea for five days, 6 through 10, 1985, at the invitation of President Chun Doo Hwan.
Pakistan with an area of 796,000km² and a population of 88 milion, who speak Urdu as the official language, is located in South-west Asia, bordering on Iran, Afghanistan and India. The country, which is in the dry subtropical climate zone, produces a great deal of natural gas, rice and cotton.
Pakistan, Pursuing non-alignment as its diplomatic policy, keeps close ties with Islamic countries of the world, especially those of the Middle East. The relations between the country and Korea have been promoted in economic and cultural fields since 1983, when the formal diplomatic relationship was established between the two countries.
During the visit, President Zia-Ul-Haq President Chun Doo Hwan will have summit talks in which the two presidents are expected to discuss matter of mutual concern and ways of improving bilateral cooperations.
