`The 24th Olympic Games are held in Seoul September 17 through October 2, 1988. The Olympaid, which traces back to the athletic festivals of Ancient Greece, makes it its ideal to bring forth a peaceful world. ``Harmony and progress`` has been adopted as the motto for the Seoul Olympiad, which will be ong remembered as a glorious event in our history. In celebration of the event the Ministry of Comunications will issue ieght kinds of stamps each year from 1985 until 1988. The two following stamps are the third of the series: 1. Basketball Basketball, an indoor game played by two five-member teams, was created in 1891 by Dr. J. Naismith, a Canadian instructor working for international YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, the United States. The game has been an Olympic event since the 1936 Olympic Games held in Berlin. It was, however, first introduced to us Koreans in 1907, by an American Mis-sionary named Gillet, P. In the 1960`s, half a century later, the Korean women`s basketball team played with the best women`s teams of the world and won a silver medal at the 1984 Olympics. 2. Boxing Boxing is a match fought by two men with the glov-ed fists in a square ring. The competition was on the program of the ancient Olympic Games and has since been one of the popular main Olympic Games and has since been one of the popular main Olympic events. Boxing was first introduced to Korea with the organization of Yugak Boxing Club in 1912. Korea has won a number of medals in the boxing competition, including a gold medal, since the 1948 Olympics, at which it was first represented as an independent country. `
