`President Kenana Evren of the Republic of Turkey pays a four-day stste visit to our country December 20-23, 1982 at the invitation of President Chun Doo Hwan.
The Republic of Turkey, lying between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, part of its territory belonging to Europe and the rest to Asia, is bordered by the Soviet Union, Iran, Syria and Greece. Surrounded by sea on three sides, its 779,452㎢ land is mostly mountain ranges with rich natural resoures of chtomium, copper, borax etc. Its 46,505,000 population, 90 percent of which speaks Turkish and 98 percent of which is Islamic, consists of Turks and Kurds.
Turkey bases its foreign policy on pro-American and pro-Western lines, but is maintaining friendly relations with the Middle East countries as well as with the Soviet Union and other Eastern countries.
One of the countries that dispatched armed force to help us during the Korean War, Turkey has been supporting our country in the United Nations and other interantional bodies. The traditional friendy relations between the country and Korea are expected to be further promoted and strengthened by this visit.
The Ministry of Communications issues this commemorative stamp as a token of the warm welcome that the Korean nation gives to President Kenan Evren.`
