Detail
`President Jimmy Cater of United States of America and Mrs. Carter pay a state visit to the Republic of Korea for three days from June 29 to July 1, 1979.
President Carter is the fourth U.S. President to visit Korea, following President Dwight D.Eisenhower (in 1960), President Lyndon B. Johnson (in 1966) and President Gerald R. Ford (in 1974). These visits eloquently attest to the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the United States. President Carter`s visit further reaffirms the close ties existing between the two countries.
During his threeday visit to Korea, President Carter holds summit talks with President Park Chung Hee to discuss a wide range of matters of mutual concern. This visit also affords President Carter and opportunity to examine in person the security environment in the Korean Peninsula and the growing national strength of the Republic of Korea.
All the people of Korea extend their heartiest welcome and hospitality to their honorable state guests.
Welcoming the state visit of President and Mrs. Carter to our country, the Ministry of Communications issues this commemorative stamp in the hope that the historic occasion will further enhance mutual and friendship between our two countries.`
