`As a symbol of Korea`s national progress, the Korea Exhibition Center, sponsored by the Korean Traders Association/World Trade Center Korea, is the first purpose­built exhibition complex in Korea and it will accelerate the promotion of trade in pace with the rapid growth of Korea economy. KOEX has both a domestic and international significance. As Korea`s shopwindow, it is dedicated to the task of staging domestic and international fairs and exhibitions in style and comfort and to making a real contribution to the future prosperity of Korea and to world trade. This unique, modern complex comprises a National Hall featuring in tabloid form the economic and cultural growth of Korea by means of displays in visually attractive settings, Trade Expo Halls containing a permanent display of all kinds of Korean quality goods on a year around basis, an Exhibition Hall and the outdoor exhibition space which are available to both domestic and international organizers for various types of exhibitions. All up­to­date facilities and services including large and small conference halls, topflight restaurants and many others are also available within the center to meet all likely demands of exhibitors and visitors. Thanks to the rapid growth of Korean economy, there has long existed in Korea the need for a modern exhibition complex, an element essential to the expansion of international trade in view of the current world trend. To fulfill this need of the times the Korea exhibition Center, with a total floor space of 27,431 square meters, came into being on a site of 130,803 square meters located in the southern part of the capital city of Seoul, the Republic of Korea. On 3rd July 1979 the opening of KOEX, the largest single exhibition unit in the region and equipped with a variety of ultramodern facilities specific to an exhibition complex, will be marked by the one­month commemorative inaugural exhibition. In commemoration of the historic opening of the Korea Exhibition Center, a symbolic representation of Korea`s national progress and Korea`s shopwindow for the world, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this postage stamp.`
