Detail
`As the theme of the second of a series of postage stamps depicting Korean butterflies, the Ministry of Communications has chosen Papilio xuthus Linne and Parnassius bremeri Bremer.
1. Papilio xuthus Linne
Belonging to the Papilionidae family, this butterfly is well known among us all. Easily found anywhere around us, it breeds many times a year. It lives on the leaves of the Chinese nettletree, prickly ash and tangerine trees. It breeds widely in Korea, Manchuria, Mongolia, Japan, Taiwan and Siberia from early in April through the end of Sepetember.
2. Parnassius bremeri Bremer.
Also belonging to the Papilionidae family, its feeler and wings are of the black color with the rims of its wings being marked by black lines. As its rear wings are dotted with red sports, it is commonly called a ``reddotted butterfly``. They usually appear in groups at particular districts.
It flies slowly, looking like having much leisure time.
Parnassius bremeri Bremer, which is found from early in May through the end of June, lives on orange stonecrops in such areas as Korea, Manchuria, China, Mongolia and Siberia.`
