`On May 10, 1976, the Korean Federation of Girl Scouts celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation.
The Girl Scouts of Korea was established in 1946. It was admitted to the World Federation of Girl Scouts as an associate member in 1957, and in 1963 at the 18th General Conference of the World Federation, it became a regular member.
The Girl Scouts aims at linking homes and schools and encouraging the members to cultivate their character, build up their physical strength, acquire useful skill, serve society and promote patriotism. Furthermore, it carries out public education and inspires the spirit of selfreliance to bring up capable citizens and promotes international relations.
Overcoming all the hardships since its founding, the Girl scouts of Korea has made remarkable progress. At present, 69,790 scouts are actively participating in various public services and in activities for both mental and physical improvement throughout the country.
The Ministry of Communications is issuing a commemorative postage stamp on this 30th anniversary of the Korean Federation of Girl Scouts in the hope that this movement will enjoy continuous prosperity and further contribute to building bright homes and society in this country by helping produce good citizens.`
