During the fiveday conference the Republic of Korea is expected to show off her high status in the international community, especially in the field of national security and military medicine.
The Headquarters of the International Committee of Military Medicine and Pharmacy, situated in Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, was organized in 1921 at the initiative of such dounries as the United States of America, Great Britain, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Brazil and Belgium with the following purposes in mind:
* Mutual cooperation based on the spirit of the Geneva Convention
* Academic exchange and fellowship among the military medical services of various countries
* Improvement of salvation of the warwounded
Korea was admitted to this Committee as a regular member state in November 1954, and our representatives have participated in almost all the meetings of this international medical organization ever since. The current session is the first of its kind to be held in Asia since the Bangkok conference of 1965. In the hope that the internationl event will further accelerate the developmetnt to military medicine and pharmacy, thus contributing a great deal to the prosperity and national defense of our fatherland, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this commemorative postage stamp.`
