Detail
`On December 11, 1977, we will observe the 25th anniversary of Korea`s afiliation with International Civil Aviation Organization. The establishment of ICAO was decided upon at a conference of international civil aviation, which was represented by delegates of 55 countries from throughout the World, in Chicago on December 7, 1944. Later, ICAO was officially inaugurated on April 4,1947, as one of the United Nations organizations, for the purpose of accomplishing sound and economical operation of international air transportation based on safe and orderly World civil aviation. The Republic of Korea has been playing an important role in the international air transportation, since its affiliation with ICAO as its member country on December 11, 1952, in close collaboration with other member countries. As the result of a remarkable growth of our overall national economy, our civil airline firm also has achieved a drastic growth and development unparalleled in the history of world civil aviation. Today, the Korean airline company, the second largest in Asia, boasts a vast network of flights over the entire World side by side with other worldrenowned airline firms. The Ministry of Communications issues a commemorative postage stamp in the hope that ICAO will further contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding and good will among all the members of the international community, and that the civil aviation industry of our country will continue to advance as ever before.`
