`August 26 this year marks the 30th anniversary of founding of the Redublic of Korea Army Nurse Corps. Soon after its establishment, following the inauguration of our government in 1948, the ANC, entrusted with the sublime mission of enhancing the combat caliber of our armed forces through the preservation of their health and nursing wounded officers and men, had its first opportunity of performing duty to tend the wounded during the Yosu­Suncheon Rebellion. During the past 30 years since its founding, members of the ANC heroically have carried out thier duty especially at the time of the Korean War and then in the Vietnamese War, taking care of our soldiers dispatched there as pcace crusader. Their successful performance earned them the proud title ofWhite­clad Angels both at home and abroad. Indeed the ANC has contributed greatly to the promotion of peace and freedom of the entire world. Besides, ANC officers also have extended warm hands of assistance to the civilian commuities in Vietnam as well as in Korea. For the training and education of candidates for army nursing officers, an Army Nursing School has been founded. Upon completion of the training course, the candidate is commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. ANC members also contribute considerably to the United States. On this occasion of observing the 30th anniversary of our Army Nurse Corps, the Ministry of Communications is issuing a commenorative postage stamp in the hope that all its members will further dedicate themselves to the development of nursing care that is essential to the boosting of the morale of all our officers and men.`
