Detail
`May 12, 1973 marks the 50th anniversary of founding of the Korean Nurses Association.
The association, which is contributing immensely to the preservation of health of our people as well as that of many other people abroad, joined the International Nurses Association as a regular member in 1949.
It consists of 11 local chapters based on the administrative districts throughout the country, another chapter for the nurses in the military service and still other chapters for the Korean nurses service in various regions abroad. The overall membership of the association has now grown to 8,000.
A corporation aggregate, the association is an autonomous arganization which is primarily aimed at improving the standard of nurses training and nursing service to help enhance public health and welfare.
To celebrate the auspicious occasion, the association will undertake various programs on a large scale beginning in April.
Paying a high tribute to the noble spirit and devoted service of our nurses, who are popularly called ``angels in white,`` and hoping for continued progress in their effort to upgrade their service, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this commemorative postage stamp.`
