`The U.N. Conference on Human Environment, designed to pool human knowledge and wisdom for a common effort to insure the healthy environment of the earth, opens in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 5. The 12-day conference, which is convened in accordance with a resolution made by the 23rd U.N. General Assembly in 1968 and for which four preparatory meetings have already been held, will deal with a wide-ranging human environmental problems, including protection of nature, rational control of natural resources and prevention of pollution and environmental degradation. The first international meeting of its kind in history, the conference will be attended by 1,500 delegates from more than 130 countries, including the Republic of Korea, 400 representatives of the World Health Organization and other U.N. specialized agencies and 650 officials from other related international organizations. Under the grand theme of ``Only One Earth,`` the conference will discuss six main subjects and 75 related topics. The main subjects are : 1. Planning and control of the human environment 2. Environmental aspect of natural resources control 3. Survey and control of environmental pollutions 4. Educational, informational, social and cultural aspects of environmental problems 5. Development and the environment 6. International organizations related to various action programs Of particular importance will be a ``declaration on the human environment`` to ge adopted at the conference. The declaration, which will include a proclamation of the inalienable ``basic human rights to enjoy safe and healthy environment,`` will mark the greatest historic decision ever to be made by the United Nations since the world body proclaimed the Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Hoping that the conference will be successfully concluded to enable mankind to live in good environment and in order to give the occasion wider publicity at home and abroad, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this commemorative stamp.`
