Detail
`The Ministry of Communications is issuing these two stamps as the second part of a series introducing traditional Korean clothes. These two stamps feature Konryongpo and Jukui, royal costumes of the Yi Dynasty.
1. Konryongpo
This costume was worn by a king when he performed routine court duties. It is made of yello silk with a lining of red silk. The breast of the garment is buttoned near the right shoulder. Golden embroideries of five-toed dragons are attached to the breast, back and shoulders of the costume.
Together with this costume, a king wore a royal cap called Iksonkwan, a jeweled waist band and black cloth boots and held a scepter made of white jade.
2. Jokui
This is a ceremonial clothes of the highest order worn by a queen. It is made of dark blue silk on which 312 pheasants and 160 flowers are printed in an elaborate pattern. Purple trimmings are sewn on the collar, on the edge of sleeves and on other fringes of the garment. Patterns of dragons are printed in gold foil on all of them.
Along with this costume, a queen wore a seven-foot-long yellowish red waist band on which patterns of phoenixes are printed in gold foil, Hapi on shoulders and a crown named Juchuichiljokkwan.`
