`The Ministry of Communications is issuing these two postage stamps as the third part of a series depicting fruits grown in Korea. 1. Pear This fleshy pome fruit is borne by a tree two to three meters tall which grows in the temperate zone. The tree has broad and erose leaves. Its white blossoms, seven to eight in each cluster, come into bloom in late April. This generally round-shaped fruit is mostly brownish. Some pears are greenish yellow. Early pears are reaped in the early part of August and late ones in October. 2. Apple This is also a pome fruit which grows on a tree three to four meters high. The tree, developed from a crab apple tree, is distributed in the temperate zone. There are also smaller apple trees which are only about two meters tall. This tree, too, has broad, erose leaves. Like pear blossoms, apple flowers bloom in clusters, each having seven or eight blossoms, in early May. The center flower in each cluster is larger than the others. The shape and color of the fruit vary according to its kind. Some apples ripen in early August and others as late as October.`
