`The 10th anniversary of the enforcement of the industrial standardization system falls on November 11, 1971, in the Republic of Korea. Industrial standardization is a system by which products of the mining and manufacturing industries are required to meet certain uniform requirements technically such as shapes and figures, size and quality. For the enforcement of industrial standardization in our country, the Industrial Standardizaion Law was enacted and promulgated on September 30, 1961, and untiring efforts have been made in this direction ever since. The industrial standardization system has contributed a great deal to the making of commercial dealings simple and fair, at the same time promoting production efficiency and qualitative improvement as well as convenience in the use of commodities. Industrial standardization is urgently in demand also for the promotion of export. In most advanced countries, where the industrial standardization system is enforced, officially recognized marks are widely in use to indicate that certain manufactured commodity items have been so made as to meet certain standard requirements. Such a practice helps promote the popular use and publicity of the system, at the same time contributing to the protection of consumers in general. In Korea, too, the mark ``KS`` is affixed to commodities of their containers and packagings, in accordance with the provisions of the Industrial Standardization Law, for commodity items which fully meet the ``KS`` (Korean Standards) requirements. In the hope that good-quality commodities, which can help increase our exports to international markets, will be produced in abundance through the effective enforcement of the industrial standardization, the Ministry of Communications is to release a commemorative postage stamp on this occasion.`
